First Place for Israel’s Amputee Football Team

The Israeli National Amputee Football Team won first place in a tournament held in Scotland, competing against teams from Belgium, Scotland, and Ireland. Under the leadership of coach Sharon Paz, the team defeated Belgium 3–0, Scotland 6–0, and Ireland 4–2 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in regular time.

This was the team’s second tournament this month — they also took first place in their previous tournament in Belgium. Coach Sharon Paz said:
“I’m proud of my players who gave their all in this intense tournament with four matches over two days, finishing with a win over Ireland — one of the top 8 teams in Europe. My heart bursts with pride at their effort and ability to give their best in every moment of the game.”

He added:
“I’m confident we will only keep rising and succeeding. I want to thank Maccabi Haifa President Yaakov Shahar and the Altshuler Shaham Group — without them, this dream wouldn’t have come true. I truly hope this achievement brings greater exposure and that more players join us. This sport, which is so popular in Europe, deserves to grow here in Israel too.”

Team Roster: Or Hershkovitz, David Feldman, Noam Cohen, Oren Kashiov, Uri Chaim, Eli Almozino, Shlomo Zuaretz, Ayman Abu Adiya, Roy Sal, Aviran Ohana, Hamza Suleiman, Yoav Tzarfati, Ben Maman, Tzach Shachrur, and Azi Ben Shaul.
